Surveillance Camera Monitors
Perhaps the most used component of the Security Surveillance System is the Surveillance Camera Monitor. Although the DVR is recording the Surveillance Video, a Monitor is required in order to view the live footage at the DVR. There are two basic types of monitors. The first is a CRT monitor. This type is similar to a standard television set and has a glass screen. The second type is an LCD monitor and is similar to modern computer LCD monitors. All DVRs have BNC outputs to connect a Security Monitor, and some have VGA outputs so that a standard LCD monitor can be connnected. All Security Monitors have BNC connections. A service monitor is a small hand-held monitor that can be used when installing and aligning cameras. The service monitors are battery operated.
Other monitors can also be installed as "spot monitors". These monitors are located throughout your home or business so that you can view individual cameras or groups of cameras when you are away from the main monitor.
