Hey guys. Well I am still installing cameras on the same site. The customer just keeps adding more!
My question is this...the customer wants to install a ptz camera in a building that is a pretty good distance from the office where the dvr is. How far can that cable run be if using cat5e?

Is this an analog or IP PTZ? For analog, you can get close to 1000'ft for video and control, but you will not be able to run 12V DC more than 100'ft (sometimes much less) or 24V AC more than about 200ft. So you will need to grab local power for long distances. For IP, you can run up to 333 feet between devices. To extend this distance for video you could use up to 3 switches and get up to 1000ft for ethernet, but then you will need local power again.
