I have a 1 TB HDD DVR that the motherboard went out. Can I get a DVR with no HDD and just install the 1TB into it? Would I need to format it before installing or during initial setup if I can swap it

Hi Josh,

As long as the HDD is compatible with our lines of recorders, then yes you can simply move the HDD into the new DVR. It is always recommended and sometimes necessary to format the drive when moved to another recorder. For example if you have one of our ELITE series recorders, and you buy another ELITE series then it is not necessary, but recommended. However, if you switch to any of our other lines, then it will be necessary.
