I am setting up many NVR's and camera's in remote locations for our organization.

I have gotten pretty efficient setting the parameters we require, but it sure is clumsy using the virtual keyboard that pops up from the onboard GUI.

Is there a USB keyboard I can use instead?

I am using NVR-ELE8M-P4K NVR's.

I do not know of any wireless or wired keyboards that will work.

Hello,

You can always use a PC to set it up.

Yeah... I'm and OSX guy. I have a couple of old PC laptops. I think they are running XP. If I can get one of them to run again maybe I could delete everything from their HDD's except for XP and IE and try that. They are painfully slow.

  • What are the minimum requirements for a Windows machine, and what version of IE?
  • Are all settings available with a PC that are on the onboard GUI?
  • Is there a video somewhere that I can look at (tutorial) that shows control via PC?

Thanks Dan.

Hi M,

The XP machines are out of support. There is smart pss for macs. That will help. To have the most control remotely you would need IE 11 on a newer pc win7 and later. Smart pss works well for viewing and saving video. As IP addresses typically do not line up on configuration smart pss does not do well fixing that.

I have smartPSS on my Mac and use it all the time. Like you said Dan... works great but a little limited on the configuration stuff.

I'll have to look for a Win 7 PC I can get cheap just to use for this process. Not giving up my Mac for everything else! Smile

Virtual Machines can also be used while on Mac OS and Linux Operating Systems. That is what I do while I am at home since I do not have a PC running Windows. Just Virtual Machines.

My OSX mentor (and little brother) told me the same thing last night.

Which one do you recommend for a  Mac Jose?

VMware Fusion seems to be doing good for me. I am also using it for my Ham Radio software since Windows seems to be a popular OS a lot of the software for it is on Windows only similar to what we see with Security Systems. Let me know if I can be of help.
