PTZ Cameras

A pan tilt zoom camera is basically a camera that is capable of zooming and thereby remote panning. It is used mainly for taking pictures of outdoor events like weddings, parties, baptisms, parades, etc. It can be used in a number of ways like in the case of a wedding photo session or a group photo. The advantage of using this camera is that it makes it easy to keep the focus on certain parts of the picture without losing the depth of field. These cameras have two major parts namely the lens and the flash unit. Other details like shutter and other controls can also be controlled by means of a simple push of a button on the PTZ Cameras.

There are various kinds of PTZ Cameras available in the market. This kind of camera is mostly used as a surveillance camera and is usually fitted with a built-in pan/tilt/zoom lens. Usually, these lenses have fixed focal lengths. However, in some of the cases, they may have a variable focal length and this would enable the user to make the focus more precisely. As far as the size is concerned, these cameras are generally small and can easily fit in the palm of your hand. They are often very portable and you can bring them with you when you travel.

This kind of camera is widely being used in surveillance systems as well. A number of users prefer to use this type of camera because they are easy to manipulate and thus produce good quality images. Apart from being easy to use, these cameras have very few limitations and hence you need to have a thorough understanding of all its features before buying one. Basically, a PTZ camera has two major parts namely the housing and the lens and the latter also has adjustable z-axis.

The housing serves as the body of this camera and it is basically created from high-quality plastic. The housing also comprises a tripod socket that allows you to fix the camera in a secure location such as the ceiling or the wall. On the other hand, the lens of this camera is made up of extremely durable glass and is capable of capturing high-quality images even in a dimly lit environment. The other major advantage of using this camera is that it is compatible with a wide range of accessories such as wired and wireless transmitters. These cameras allow you to view your images on a screen and even download them to your personal computer.

A major disadvantage of PTZ cameras is that they tend to produce blurred images if you use optical zoom. However, there are some alternatives available for this particular problem. For instance, there are some optical zoom cameras that have a very narrow aperture which eliminates blurring effects. On the other hand, the wide-area transmission feature of PTZ cameras allows the transmission of images across a wide area without losing quality in any way. The wide-area transmission feature is one of the main reasons behind the success of PTZ cameras and hence they are used widely by real estate professionals across the world.

Some of the PTZ cameras also include pan and tilt functionality. In fact, all the latest generation of PTZ cameras include this amazing functionality. The pan and tilt function of the camera automatically allows you to shoot an image in different positions such as straight from the eye, shot from the side, shot from the front, and even shot from the back. This makes it easy for you to select the best possible angle for the photo. With the PTZ cameras, you get the opportunity to capture images in a natural manner.

The large areas transmitted via the wide dynamic range transmission feature of these cameras make it possible to capture images even of very distant locations. For example, if you want to capture an image of a snow-covered mountain then you can easily do so by adjusting the PTZ mode to the remote view and then clicking on the toggle button on the remote view screen. Using the built-in intervalometer you can also measure the length of your exposures. The image of the mountain will be saved and you can choose to continue shooting at that particular location or move over to another area. Another great advantage of using the PTZ mode is that you can also alter the lens settings. You can change from wide-angle to telephoto, set up a timer, and then take photos of scenes with the background lightened.

To enhance the benefits of the PTZ camera you should select the correct setting as preset. For example, if you want to alter the focus of the focus from a distant location then select the ‘auto focus’ preset. In the same way, if you want to change the color temperature of the images then select the ‘color’ preset. When selecting a correct preset, just keep in mind that you should select the one that suits your requirements the best. You can then use the basic settings and then enhance them with the appropriate presets such that they work well for you.
